Read. Reign. Repeat.

Dirty English by Ilsa Madden-Mills

Queen B’s Decree:  Inspired by Pride and Prejudice?  That’s kinda my bread and butter.  You really don’t want to know how many “sequels” or “modern day adaptations” I’ve read.  Imagine my face when I opened the book to find this:

Matthew McFadden says that. Acting as Mr. Darcy. So the screenwriter wrote that. Jane Austen did not write that. Yes, it’s a wonderful line BUT IT’S NOT IN THE BOOK. And somehow I found the strength to continue.

It was a mistake.

I tried. I truly did. I gave it my all until I just couldn’t anymore. 47% and I’m done.  Elizabeth Bennett (how dare she be so shitty when she’s named that) was awful.  I mean, I get it. You had a really bad thing happen to you. My sympathies, but that doesn’t change the fact that you are an awful character. Why does Dec like you?  And you Dec…why are you such a cliche?

DNF at 47%.
